Meet the Rabbinic Intern

Elana Ackerman-Hirsch

A little about me–I’m a graduate of the Rhea Hirsch School of Education at Hebrew Union College-JIR and a rising 5th year rabbinical student on the Los Angeles Campus. I grew up in Scottsdale, AZ and Palo Alto, CA with my parents and three siblings. I attended the University of Puget Sound and received a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science (Biology). While in college, I was involved in my sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, serving on multiple committees and leadership boards, and sang in choir. Although there was no Hillel at my small liberal arts school, I was a member of the Jewish Student Union on campus. I love walking at the Silverlake reservoir, drinking good coffee, and talking about Judaism and all of the amazing and meaningful things it can teach us. I’m so excited to get to know all of you and work with you this year!
