Feed Our Neighbor
Every Thursday, LMU students gather to make sandwiches for young people needing lunch. Feed Our Neighbor brings students together through Campus Ministry to serve unhoused youth at Safe Place for Youth (SPY) in Venice. Along the way, we reflect together on two urgent justice issues in our city: food security and housing.
Service changes how we see our neighbors. It also changes how we see ourselves. Through this work, we live out LMU's mission of the service of faith and the promotion of justice. We learn names. We distribute meals. We ask honest questions about why so many young people in Los Angeles lack a safe place to sleep.
How It Works
Each Thursday, we gather in the Cave, on the lower level of Sacred Heart Chapel. Together we pack more than 100 sack lunches. Then a team drives to the SPY Access Center in Venice to serve lunch to transitional-age youth experiencing homelessness.
