Mission for new faculty
Welcome, new faculty, to Loyola Marymount University! We are so glad you are part of our community, which will be enriched by your teaching, scholarship, service, and presence.
As faculty members, you have a key role to play in animating our shared mission at LMU. The Center for Mission and Identity offers a wide variety of resources and programs to support you in your work. We've collated some that are particularly relevant to new faculty on this page. If you have questions or would like to discuss more personalized recommendations based on your particular circumstances, please contact Kat Brown, Director of Mission and Identity Programs.
GET ORIENTED
Loyola Marymount University is grounded in its Jesuit, Marymount identity as articulated in its mission statement. This educational tradition spans more than 500 years and continues to evolve as it seeks to form persons for and with others, equipped and empowered to work for justice in the world. It also comes with a variety of vocabulary, concepts, and values that may or may not be familiar to you.
