Catherine Meyer
Catherine Meyer CBE is a British Conservative Politician and Life Peer. She is currently HMG’s Trade Envoy to the Ukraine.
Catherine Meyer was born into a Franco-Russian family. She was educated at the French Lycée in London and has a BA (Hons) from the School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies. She began in financial services where for several years she pursued a successful career as a commodity broker. Catherine later became a leading child advocate and campaigner – setting up her own registered charity in Britain and America which she ran for 19 years (Parents & Abducted Children Together, now Action Against Abduction). From 2003 to 2008 she was anon-executive director of LIFFE (London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange). From 2012 to 2015,she was a non-executive director of the London Institute of Mathematical Sciences. She has been active in politics on behalf of the Conservative Partysince 2004. In 1999, she was awarded the Adam Walsh Rainbow Award for outstanding contribution to children’s causes. In 2012, she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by The Queen for “services to children and families”. In 2018, she was ennobled as a Life Peer, taking the title of Baroness Meyer of Nine Elms. Catherine has authored two books on her personal experience of child abduction. She is married to Sir Christopher Meyer, former British Ambassador to the U.S.A. She has two sons and two stepsons.
