Fr. Randy began publishing weekly spirituality essays from before he returned to LMU in 2003. Writing these is a hobby, a weekday evening exercise more pleasant than watching TV programs. The process is simple: begin with an intention of writing something that might be helpful to a reader (or the writer), and wait for an initial idea to serve as the first words for an essay. This idea might well arise from contemporary experience in relating with people, or might come from some memory or an inspiration not directly related with anything. From that beginning, one idea might suggest another, filling out in an often surprising way to the writer, some meaningful content related to the initial idea.

All the essays have in common the offering of some implicit or explicit applications of Ignatian discernment. Further, they rely on the writer's belief that the supply of inspirations is ultimately from an infinite Source.
