Fr. Dorian Llywelyn, S.J.

Fr. Dorian Llywelyn SJ comes from Wales (and is the first Welsh Jesuit since 1679).  He holds degrees in English and theology from universities in the UK, Spain, and the US. He has lived and worked in nine countries in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia, and is fluent in a number of languages. 

For 14 years, he was a member of LMU's Dept. of Theological Studies and Director of the Huffington Ecumenical Institute.  After holding senior leadership positions at Santa Clara University and the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies at USC, he is now Director of LMU’s Center for Ignatian Spirituality.

Fr. Llywelyn’s academic expertise is in the area of nationalism and Catholicism, with an emphasis on Mariology and popular religiosity. He is currently working with an international group of scholars on a multi-disciplinary volume of essays on the figure of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

He serves on the Board of Trustees of Mayfield Senior School in Pasadena, CA and is a chaplain of the Western Association of the Order of Malta.
