Fr. Ernald Andal, S.J., graduate student in the School of Education

Fr. Guillrey Anthony M. Andal, S.J. is known to many as “Ernald.” He is a Jesuit priest from the Philippines doing his doctoral studies at LMU’s School of Education (Educational Leadership for Social Justice).

Prior to coming over to Los Angeles, he was missioned for three years to the Jesuit Bukidnon Mission District in Mindanao (Southern Philippines) as the parochial vicar of the Parish of Our Lady Mary Mediatrix of All Grace (Diocese of Malaybalay) and as the school director of St. Isidore High School in Zamboanguita, Malaybalay City.

As a Jesuit scholastic (before he was ordained priest in 2014), he was also involved in the following ministries:

  • 2005-2006 Youth Animator for the University of the Philippines (Diliman Campus) Chaplaincy Office 

  • 2006-2008 Program Officer for Political Affairs of Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (Church in the Service of the Nation), the Socio-political apostolate of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus 

  • 2006-2008 Radio Anchor of C.G.E. (Citizenship by Good Example), a youth-oriented political talk show aired weekly by a leading Catholic radio station in Metro Manila (Radio Veritas) 

  • 2006-2008 TV Host/Talent for Jesuit Communications Foundation’s (JesCom) religious-themed TV shows aired nationwide: Soulmix and Kape’t Pandasal (Coffee and Prayers)
  • 2010-2011 Associate Director of Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan 
  • 2011-2014 Director of the Jesuit Music Ministry and talent for JesCom TV
