Campus Ministry's Statement On #StopAsianHate

Campus Ministry's Statement On #StopAsianHate

The Campus Ministry team stands up for and with our Asian and Pacific Islander sisters and brothers at LMU and around the world. We denounce the tragic events on March 16th in Atlanta, GA targeting Asian women among others and the anti-Asian racism that has only been heightened during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Committed to our Jesuit, Marymount, and Ignatian mission of the service of faith and the promotion of justice, we condemn all forms of racism, bigotry, and discrimination. As members of the Abrahamic faith traditions, we affirm the God-given dignity of all humanity and the sanctity of all human life. We reiterate our support for all Asian and Pacific Islander communities on campus and we proclaim that we are here for you.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon:

May God bring comfort and healing to their families and communities. May we be inspired and challenged to build communities of peace, inclusion, and justice.

Beloved, let us love one another,

because love is of God;

everyone who loves

is begotten by God

and knows God.

Whoever is without love

does not know God

for God is love.

1 John 4:7-8

We created you all

from a single man

and a single woman,

and made you into

races and tribes

so that you should

recognize one another.

In God’s eyes,

the most honored of you

are the ones

most mindful of Him:

God is all knowing, all aware.

Qur’an 49:13

You shall not take vengeance

or bear a grudge against

someone from your nation.

Love your fellow as yourself:

I am Adonai.

Leviticus 19:18
