Sacramental Preparation

The mission of Sacramental Preparation is to impel those individuals who choose to participate, and indeed the entire LMU Faith Community, to a conversion of heart, an orientation to prayer, a life of service, and a commitment to proclaim the Word in speech and action. It is a continuous journey into dying and rising in a Spirit-touched community.

Each sacrament requires time, dedication and proper preparation. For those interested in Adult Baptism through the R.C.I.A. and Confirmation Campus Ministry provides the proper preparation programs necessary to engage this sacrament. Those interested in Infant Baptism or Marriage, however, are required to fulfill the necessary preparation programs at their local parish.

Catechists

As Catechists in the Roman Catholic Church at LMU, we are teacher's of our faith, who guide those preparing to receive and celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. We believe that sharing faith is an opportunity to awaken the Spirit within ourselves, as well as in those we journey with. We believe it is not just learning the rituals, but finding the meaning behind the ritual. We offer a place for discussion and support to all who come to us. We offer our faith, knowledge and experiences as resources for those we lead. We are friends to those we teach, as well as guides, and share in their faith journey. We value love, understanding and trust. We impart our values and traditions by our example. And, we believe in celebrating together our faith, our heritage and our traditions. And, that the uniqueness of each of us brings strength to all of us. We believe in laughing often, and finding joy in everything we do and teach. We believe in the power of forgiveness to heal and the power of love to carry us through. We believe in making a family out of this community.
